THE OUTSIDE AREA:

 

for many reasons "Le Picine" is the ideal place where to spend unforgettable days, and many guests from every part of the world come and visit us every year; we are very pleased to warmly welcome all of them.

You can relax in the apartments or you can decide to go and visit the towns of art nearby the area of the Fattoria. You can also go for walking tours, tours by bike or horse or simply enjoy all day long the enchanting swimming pool doing nothing.

 

The swimming pool: at le "Picine" the temperature is pleasant also in summer (we are at 420 metres above sea level) when you can get fresh having a bath in our beautiful panoramic swimming pool among the olive trees and the vineyards typical of this area. On our deckchairs, surrounded by sweet colours and natural sounds, everybody can find a peaceful corner to get tan or read in total relax breathing the scent of roses, rosemary and lavender.

Where to eat: for lovers of countryside and organic products, our house is a perfect starting point for visiting the land of Chianti and its fattorie producing the famous wine to taste together with appetizing cold cut and cheese of local production. We also suggest to taste the delicious courses of the osteria "Il Carlino d'oro" (0577-747136) in Gaiole in Chianti, to visit the restaurant "La bottega del 30" in Villa a Sesta, and the wine bar "Bengodi" in Catelnuovo B.ga, or taste the specialties of the osteria "Il Granaio" in Rapolano Terme (0577-726975) about 30 minutes from us.

Horse-riding lessons and tours: for beginners or expert horse-riders the riding school "Chiantiriding", 20 minutes by car, is the perfect place to start knowing Tuscany on a horse back. "If you are a beginner we want you to get confidence with the saddle and to enjoy riding; you will rapidly trust our horses and will be ready for your first horse tour. If you are already an expert we propose horse excursions – half day or whole day – for seeing the most beautiful areas of Chianti".

Trekking: we are in the middle of a wide net of tracks. You will discover an uncontaminated region of Tuscany away from the streets and the towns and with short excursions you will reach beautiful panoramic corners of the area. Tours in mountain bike and bike: our scenic roads with a limited traffic density are perfect for cycling. The cycling lovers must know that the association "Eroica Ciclismo d'Epoca" organizes tours on essentially dirt roads; it re-proposes pre war cycling settings, dust and mud, typical old rest stops, as beautiful as difficult paths and a great sense of adaptation.

One day at sea: in less than two hours you can reach the beautiful sand beach of Castiglion della Pescaia. By the southern part of the Gulf, you find the "Parco Nazionale di Scarlino" with its thick vegetation and one of the most beautiful beach in Tuscany: "Cala Violina".

 

The associazione culturale “Le Pici” is open to painting, dance, yoga and many other activities: not far from us the “heart” of the organic Fattoria Le Pici, with beautiful halls for meditation and for groups of therapy and art.

 

Shopping: apart from the great variety of shops you can find in the main towns of Tuscany, Siena for example (only 30 minutes from our Fattoria), it is worth to visit the "Outlet Valdichiana" where the most famous Italian griffes opened boutiques of all kinds.
